Basal-IQ

Basal-IQ is an advanced technology from Tandem Diabetes that significantly reduces the risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia. The system continuously analyzes glucose trends and automatically adjusts the basal rate to prevent dangerously low blood sugar levels.

How it works

The system uses data from the CGM sensor (Dexcom G6 or G7) to detect glucose trends. When blood sugar drops and hypoglycemia is predicted, Basal-IQ automatically reduces the basal rate by up to 30%. This adjustment occurs every 5 minutes.
